MW2 – Our losses (PC)

First off, Quite a few of the points below will be debatable, so please lets not go crazy, but do voice your opinion in the comments area bellow!

Server Tracking & Ranks

Sites like GameTracker, ServerSpy, GameMonitor will not work. Tracking sites do what they say on the tin, they track servers and give the visitor information about the server, who’s played their recently, how it ranks among other servers, who’s playing in there now. If you have a Static IP, they will still work, but most people have Dynamic IP’s.

Ban Streaming

The good old anti-cheat programs (PunkBuster and VAC) can’t pick up every cheat, and sometimes don’t globally ban players who use them, that’s where sites like PBBans and PunkBusted come in. If you are Punkbuster banned (Cheats) in a site streaming to PBBans or PunkBusted, you’ll be banned in every other server streaming to PBBans or PunkBusted, but they all require static, datacenter hosed IP’s, as they sent information to the server all the time*.

Mods / Maps

Mods and Maps made Call of Duty 4, the normal game got boring after the first year, the mods extended the products live, taking that out of Modern Warfare 2, will just make it boring, once you’ve played all the maps, and all the gametypes a few hundred times.

Competitive Side

Clans, Leagues and Tournaments are going to find it very hard in Modern Warfare 2, as a huge part of a competitive clan, is a private server they play in whenever they want, with what ever Internet connection* they have. With no dedi’s people will be having to host these private games.

And actually games, which team gets the benefit of having the host on their team, with a ~5ms ping.

Communities

Speaking as the owner of FpsOverload, we had huge plans for Modern Warfare 2 regarding profit and members, these have all gone straight into the bin. How can a community work without its own 32 slot server that will be on 24/7?

Server Bans

We all love to see it when that rule braking glitcher gets banned/ temp banned from the server. Nothing More…

Favorite Servers

All (PC) gamers have their favourite servers with people they know and like to play with, plays the maps and gametype they like to play.
